This unit describes the various forms and usages of Past Tenses in English. These are as follows: Past Simple, Past Continuous, Past Perfect, Past Perfect Continuous. For each, the affirmative, negative and question forms are presented. Examples are give. The usages of each are explained and common errors are noted. Activate hints are also provided to help differentiate between the differing usages. The differences regular and irregular verbs are covered. The former are created by adding -ed or -d to the stem of the verb, e.g. Cooked / cooked, while irregular verbs do not follow this pattern. The unit is a good basis for understanding and teaching past tenses and can be used as a teaching aid.
