Unit 5 provides a lot of useful information on how to manage a classroom. Whether or not you have an outgoing personality or are even a little shy knowing how to properly use eye contact, gestures, and your own voice can be very helpful in making sure one's classroom is a relaxing and enjoyable learning environment. The Unit covers student grouping and classroom arrangements with clearly explained pros and cons. Unit 5 will be a handy reference guide in the future for teachers who are looking for good ideas related to specific classroom management details such as using students' names, writing on the board, giving individual attention, and especially how much 'TTT' and 'STT' there should be. The portion of the unit on giving instructions is especially useful since this is something that teachers will have to do every time they have a class. Knowing that it is not a good idea to simply say, 'Do you understand?', and rather that it is better to have the students confirm their understanding by repeating the instructions is very sound advice. The Unit covers how to build rapport, maintain discipline and provides reasons why some students may have inappropriate behaviour and steps that may be taken to prevent problems. The task sheet as always provides useful exercises to reinforce what has been covered in the preceding unit.
