In this unit, I have learned how teaching a new language is important and relevant to how a student learns. When a new learner is embraced with a new language, it is important that there be similarities to their own language or to English words their may already know. The ability for appropriacy in spelling and pronunciation is also a key component to new language learning. Having exposure to the new language is useful as well as an abliltiy to practice in real life situations. It will help them tremendously to understand the meaning of words and how sentences are structured. This results in true fluency in any language learned. This lesson has also showed me the use of new language structures and how to properly introduce vocabulary and teaching functions. I am better equipped to constructed different lessons for each level that I will be teaching. The techniques for teaching vocabulary are more clear for each phase of the lesson. I also enjoyed the section on functions and lesson ideas for inviting, refusing and suggesting. This is were role-play becomes a very useful tool in the activate phase of teaching my lessons to more advanced students.
