This unit goes over the different type of tests and how to evaluate students. Different types of evaluation should be used in different moments. Placement tests to determine a student's level before placing him/her in a specific group. Diagnostic tests at the beginning of a course to understand student's strengths and weaknesses to balance the topics covered in the course. Progress tests to evaluate the students during the course to see how things are going and which information they have retained. Some schools require regular testing whereas others would leave it up to the teacher. The unit also explains the different types of external tests that students can take for school or for work or when moving abroad. Practice tests help students familiarize with the format of an exam before taking it while practicing.
