the distinction between perceptive and productive vocabulary and the importance of successfully teaching students new vocabulary is of a great importance. Usually, when it comes to teaching grammar, a part from determining the right ESA structure,there are only a few things to bear in mind most important of all to properly explain what that particular grammar structure is used for and how to find the right way to use it. For example, a lesson based on PAst Perfect Simple would start with an engage phase where the students would discuss about their holidays and gradually talk about their favorite past holiday etc. In the study phase there would be a recording to listen to where a person tell a story in which he uses past perfect. then there would be some grammar sentences like fill the gaps or matching ones and finally there would be a story telling by students to prcatice it. Vocabulary is strictly related to native language so it would be very important to try to find a link brìetween a new foreign word and a native one or try to find a sound that could help in memorzing it.
