This unit provided me with information regarding the technical aspect of managing classes, in other words, it explains the variety of issues that are related to class management. Class management is the skill of organizing the class, individual students and what takes place within the class. It all starts from the teacher,simply put the teacher is one of the main factors in class management,in order for a class to be able to learn effectively, as the book states, the teacher must be able to inspire confidence, to know when to be firm and when to have a more relaxed state, how and when to shift roles. There are three very important factors that all teachers need to consider and be aware of while teaching , which are eye-contact, gestures and tonality of the voice. Furthermore, another factor that should be taken into consideration for class management, is the grouping of students, each type of grouping has its advantages and disadvantages which teachers have to know in order to know when to use each type depending on the activity that is being carried out at that particular moment, as the activities in the class change so must the grouping styles so that the teacher can achieve maximum effectiveness in her students' learning process. Apart from the grouping styles, there are also different types of classroom arrangement, which basically involves the way students are seated. Classroom arrangement strongly depends on the space of availability and the type of tables the students have, and should be always done from the start of the course. Furthermore, there are some issues that have to be considered when moving students, in order for the whole class to benefit with the rearrangement, without students to feel discriminated. This unit also provided a lot of information on small details that play a huge role in the classroom, like the position of the teacher, how the teacher must give instructions and how to give individual instructions, all those points might seem insignificant for most people, because they are often not given much importance, but this unit made me realize how significant they are for the psychology of the students. Last but not least, something equally important is the establishment of rapport and the maintaining of discipline in the class. Once rapport has been established in the class between teacher and students, or students themselves, learning and teaching become pleasant and easy, the atmosphere is relaxed and learning is stimulated. Teachers have to be very careful in how they are maintaining class discipline, how to prevent problem behaviour and how to respond in case it arises.
