In this Unit I learned about the different theories on how to teach. From PPP to CLT to sugestopaedia, I can clearly see how and why educators are divided over what ways are best and what ways are not. For example I am not a fan of the Silent Way, the teacher's role in the the class is to teach, simply giving them colored sticks and explore the English language seems confusing. One point is that as an adult if I wanted to learn Hangul (Korean) and my teacher handed me a bunch of sticks I would be very confused. I think this could only work with very young children. Learning about ESA, of which I am vaguely familiar formatting lessons in E-S-A seems the most practical. For older and more advanced groups the patchwork method would be more useful, given the longer attention spans and you can do more complex activities. The role of a teacher to correct the student work: to correct only when necessary, students should not be singled out just because they don't understand a topic. Students (older like 9+) should be encouraged to help each other. the worst case senario in this case is that a student helps another student but in the wrong way, either making the student in need make a different mistake or reinforce the error as correct. The teacher should be aware of this if it occurs
