Wow, phonetic scripting is strange! I look forward to the challenge of learning to read that alphabet better. I am still unsure about how an English teacher's accent supposedly does not affect the way the phonetic script is pronounced. My students will undoubtedly be pronouncing words like an American, while those who learn from the British teacher at the local academy will adopt some of her accent and pronunciation. Either way, I think the universal aspect of phonetics is very interesting. I don't expect to use this much in my teaching, but I want to know it personally. I will definitely pull this out if my student's are having a particularly hard time with certain sounds, though.
