This unit is an introduction to the present tense. Unlike other languages where the present tense contains just one part, the present tense in the English language contains four parts. As a native speaker of English, I use all four regularly, but it is nice to see the breakdown of when is the correct time to use each one. This helps when you are trying to teach it to someone else, so that they are speaking and understanding the language correctly. This unit covered the four subsections of the present tense: present simple, present perfect, present continuous, and present perfect continuous. There are small tricks you could use to understand which tense you are reading or hearing. I think the present simple is the easiest to understand. The present continuous adds the use of -ing, which is also easy to understand. The present perfect and present perfect continuous, I think, are a little more difficult to understand how to use. But, the present perfect continuous will often be in the form of have + -ing, while the present perfect will often be in the form of have + -ed.
