This unit covers the productive skills.They are writing and speaking. They are both used for the same purpose of communicating. People communicate with each other for the following reasons. =they have some communication purpose -they want to say something -they want to listen to something -they are interested in what is being said. The difference between accuracy and fluency is that accuracy activities correct the language and are controlled, while fluency activities help the students to experiment and be creative with the language. Teachers should encourage students to speak. Some students are reluctant to speak because of; peer intimidation, fear of making mistakes among others. There are techniques to encourage students to speak. put them in group work, pair work etc. When it comes to handwriting, the teacher should always encourage students to improve on their handwriting. Spelling in English is difficult,so students can be helped through extensive reading. TO HELP STUDENTS LEARN THE DIFFERENT LAYOUTS OF WRITING, THEY NEED TO BE EXPOSED TO, AND BE GIVEN THE CHANCE TO PRACTICE with different styles. Creative writing should be encouraged. Games in a classroom are also covered here. A game is an activity with rules,goals and element of fun. They can be competitive or co-perative. I have learnt that free speaking activities are more concerned with fluency than accuracy so, I should not over correct them. I have learnt that accuracy and fluency are of equal importance. I have learnt that the teacher must create the need and desire in students to communicate.
