From the course I have learnt that a good teacher should portray some qualities which relate to day to day activities. They should ensure that a class is always lively by ensuring that they create good rapport with the students. They should always motivate their students and always correct them in a respectable way so that respect is maintained while ensuring that they are always in-charge of the class. They should also participate in different activities and discussions , not as teachers but at the same level with the students. This will improve the confidence of the students especially the weaker ones.
Learners also have a role when it comes to learning. They should be willing to learn and to use the language in their daily activities so as to improve their mastery of the language. Teachers are also encouraged to be able to understand the different students' needs depending on different factors like their cultures, age groups, learning experiences, motivation, language awareness etc.
There are different levels depending on the students language experience and different levels require different learning activities and speed. For lower levels success is usually easy to see whereas the middle level success is not easily measurable as it is already achieved. At the higher levels a lot of English is known and we may fail to see progress thus teachers should make lessons enjoyable, useful and interesting to maintain or to build motivation among students.
