In this unit, I learned the seven main ways that the future tense is formed in the English language. There are the four main forms: the future simple, the future continuous, the future perfect, and the future perfect continuous, and then there are three other forms: the "be going to" form, the present simple form (used for scheduling), and the present continuous. Teaching all of these forms will require me to express clearly how they differ from one another, such as how the FP and the FPC differ in how they refer to the continuity of future events, or how the future simple and the "be going to" forms differ in how "strong" they are and how they do or do not rely on present evidence to substantiate their ideas. For teaching this form, I will try to have students do activities that require them to use only one or two of these forms at a time, as if I tried to incorporate more of these forms into a lesson, students would quickly get confused and likely frustrated. Such activities will include asking students about their future plans (both at definite and indefinite times) and having students write their own schedule for a certain future time period (e.g. next week) in English.
