In this unit we studied several different ways of teaching. These different teaching methods help non-English speakers learn English easier and more effectively. Some of the methods covered in Unit 3 were Suggestopedia, The Silent Way, Total Physical Response, Audio lingualism or the Army Method, and the ESA (Engage Study and Activate) method. With the ESA method there are several different teaching styles to choose from and variety of activities that can be used with them. The teaching styles are as follows: patchwork, boomerang, and straight arrow styles. Each style can use a different activity to help with learning English and relating it to the culture being taught. After completing this unit, it was learned that these different methods and teaching styles can be effective in the classroom and help the student learn much more about the English language and how to use it in everyday life.
