The unit was about teaching productive skills it mention the few productive skills of speaking and writing.I saw how writing is one of the most neglected skill in the TELF by the teachers as well by the studesnts.As people mainly look at the speaking part of learning or teaching mostly. I also saw that writing requires a great deal of accuracy making it a more difficult skill as to speaking which just requires fluency as the speaker just needs to speak and doesn't have to think much when speaking.I got to understand that both accuracy and fluency are equally important when teaching students and as a teacher I must try find a balance.I got an insight on the different teaching activities which a teacher can use when doing a speaking activity. First being controlled activities which is accuracy based, guided activity which is also accuracy based but on a more creative and productive base and creative communication which is a fluency based activity. The unit helped me too see that it is important for me as a teacher to encourage the students to speak in a lesson in any way possible. I also saw some on the reasons which may cause the students not to speak in a lesson and what techniques I as a teacher can use to overcome those difficulties.The example of the typical creative speaking activity lesson helped me a lot so that I know what the unit was talking about as well as the guidelines did as well .I now know what I can do with the a rough idea on what I can do or should do in a free speaking activity lesson.Looking at the writing skills I got information on things such as handwriting,spelling,layout and pronunciation and creative writing how they are important and how they benefit the students and how best me as a teacher can help them improve in those aspects.The typical creative writing activity lesson plan helped me a lot as I now could see what was expected of me when taking an creative writing activity.Games in the classroom part helped me a lot on how they benefit the students and me as teacher and how best to control and conduct a game very well and healthy without losing the class flow. I am also very grateful for the few game suggestionS that were suggested too for me to try out within the unit.
