This unit covers the future tense.
There are seven tenses and ideas that can be used with the future meanings.
The future tense.
subject+shall/will=verb.-affirmative.
subject+will/shall+not+verb.-negative
shall/will+subject+verb?-question.
shall/will+subject+not? negative question.
It can be used for; promises, spontaneous decisions, future facts,etc.
While teaching this tense you can use fortune telling and palm reading activities.
Future continuous tense.
subject+will+be+verb+ing
this tense can be used to say something will be in progress at a particular moment in the future.etc.
One of the ideas for teaching it is, arranging diaries.
Future perfect tense.
will+have+past participle.
It is used to say something will have been done, completed or achieved by a certain time in the future. A teacher can use this activity, fill in future diaries and elicit questions in the future perfect.
Future perfect continuous.
will+have+been+verb+ing.
We can use the future perfect continuous to say how long something will have continued by a certain time.
be going+infinitive['going to' future]
verb 'to be' in the present+going to+base form of a verb.
It can be used for predictions based on present evidence among others.
Activities to use include songs, plan what they are going to be when they grow up.
The other forms of the future tense are, present simple and present continuous but they have future applications.
I have learnt that when teaching the future perfect tense and future perfect continuous, a general rule is applied. They both often include an adverbial phrase that begins with 'by'.
I have learnt 'will' generally expresses a stronger intention or determination than 'shall'.
