This unit covers parts of speech.
1- NOUNS.
These are naming words.the types are;
proper nouns eg Amellah, China.
common nouns eg boy.
collective nouns eg staff,library.
compound nouns eg teagirl.
abstract nouns eg beauty.
countable nouns eg books
uncountable nouns eg milk.
2. ADJECTIVES.
These words describe nouns. eg blue, big handsome.
3.VERBS.
These are words that show the action or the state. we have irregular and regular verbs. we also have Auxiliary verbs known as helping verbs.
3 ADVERBS.
These words describe verbs. we have adverbs of;manner,place,time, degree,frequency,comment or attitude,linking, and viewpoint.
4.ARTICLES.
indefinite which is a/an and definite which is the.
5. PRONOUNS.
These are words used in place of more precise nouns. Types are;personal,possessive,reflexive and relative.
6. PREPOSITIONS.
These show the relationship between the noun or pronoun ans some other words in a sentence. Types are; prepositions of time,date,movement,place and position.
7 GERUND
This is ing of a verb used as a noun.
8. INFINITIVE.
Action as a whole formed by preceding the base form with to.
9 CONJUNCTION.
These join words of the same class and join clauses of sentences.
I have learnt that the most verbs are irregular and have no rules as to their formation, they need to be memorized.
I have also learnt that learning is continuous so, i should keep revising in order to have a great depth of the English grammar which will boost my confidence.
