The unit discusses the important functions of writing a lesson plan; a guide to plan the lesson/s, a document to refer back to and a tracking document of what has been carried out in the lesson/s. It also goes into details about what's included in a lesson plan such as: learner objectives, personal aims, language point, teaching aids, anticipated problems, procedure, phase, timing, interaction, class level, number of students, date/time, teacher's and observer's names. The unit also explores the importance of monitoring your own lessons as it is a good way of knowing what has worked well and what can be done better next time. It acts like a reflection or a self-evaluation of how effective the tasks were during the lesson/s. It is also important to have a lesson plan in place so that other teachers who may take over the lesson, will also have an idea of where the students are at with their education.
