In this unit, we learned about the different types of present tense. There are several different forms that present tense comes in. We have present simple, present perfect, present continuous, and present perfect continuous. This gives the present tense 12 different forms to work with in there concept. The first form is the present simple form. We use the verb form 'to be'. This form is use for fact or general knowledge. In the present continuous form we add '-ing' to the verbs to show the action is continuously happening. In present perfect we add the words 'have/has' as the helping verb and it must agree with the subject. It is used to show a action has been carried out or something in the past continues until the present time. In the last form, we use a helping verb plus the '-ing' verb form to show that something is already finished or has finished recently or there is an incomplete activity going on. In this form, we can also note that we can use contraction. Nevertheless, there are many different conjugations to consider and many different spellings of words in order to be memorized in each tense. We, also, have to consider subject verb agreements and the word layout for affirmative and negative statements, as well as the word layout for questions. There are many things the student needs to understand for this tense to make sense to them. It is up for the teacher to pay attention and correct when necessary.
