This unit was a continuation of the last unit, talking about basic language skills. This unit focused on productive skills, speaking and writing. The importance in these two skills is that this is how to communicate. With speaking, there should be an emphasis on pronunciation, looking for accuracy and fluency. With writing, there should be an emphasis on grammar, including punctuation, spelling, and accuracy. Again, there were examples of how to produce an ESA for the class. I appreciate seeing an ESA for writing skills, because often one would think that this is independent work. But, by reading the example, I can understand how learning writing skills can still be a class effort with interactions between the students and between the students and the teacher. The use of games was also included. Games should not be used as filler activities, but as interesting ways to motivate the students and help them learn in a creative way.
