In this unit, I learned about the different ways to assess and evaluate students' language ability through tutorials, evaluation by the students and testing. This assessments are helpful for the teacher to measure how well the students performed the tasks, whether there are any problems arise. I also learned the different tests; placement test which is designed to help teachers identify which level the students belong according to their language ability, progress test which is designed to measure the students learning development of the language, diagnostic test which is designed to help the teacher identify the learner's problems that they have with the language, and practice test which is designed to be as much like the real test (general external examinations) as possible so that the student will have a good idea of what to expect prior to the general external examinations. This topic has also listed down the different general external examinations which are also helpful for an English teacher like me. As a conclusion, I am convinced that these assessments, evaluations and tests serve a very important role in measuring your learners' language ability. Using this type of evaluation, I believe it will be a great help for me as a teacher to meet the needs of my students in terms of their language level and ability.
