This unit covered the 8 parts of speech of the English language: nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, articles, conjunctions, and pronouns (also gerunds and participles). It gave some generally helpful guidelines on how each are used, though it certainly does not go very deep into each one. However I think it gave a good overview, and helped structure things in my mind. I have had a comparatively more thorough education on grammar than most people, and even still this lesson helped organize things in my mind a bit. Something that I think should be important to clarify in this lesson is that parts of speech are determined by their usage. For example, a noun in one sentence can be used as an adjective in another sentence. And while gerunds are essentially a type of verb, they function quite differently. Just an observation.
