The future tense can be expressed in may ways including present simple, present continuous and going to with infinitive and the other four ways (future simple, future perfect, future continuous and future perfect continuous). the choice of tense is determined by the purpose of the statement like future facts, predictions, promises etc require the future simple. for future actions in progress we use future continuous while future perfect talk of finished actions by a certain time in future. future perfect says how long something will have continued by a certain time. be going to + infinitive communicates predictions with present evidence, intentions and prior intentions present simple for timetables and present continuous for definite decisions and decisions. the teacher should be equipped with all of them to differentiate effectively.
