In this section we learned about conditionals which in short are sentences that contain "if", which refers to past, present and future situations. The first conditional is "Zero", which refers to actions and facts that are irrefutable. For example, "If you boil water, you get steam." In this case, one cannot argue differently, because it is a fact. The next is First Conditional, form: if + present simple. This conditional talks about a real situation in the future that is possible. An example: "If I save half of every paycheck, I can go on a trip." Second Conditional is next, form: if + past simple, would/could/might + base form. This refers to a present or future "unreal"/hypothetical situation. An example: "If I would have chosen a better major to study, I could be working a better job." Then the Third Conditional, form: if + past perfect, would/could/might + have + past participle. An example: "If I had not given up playing the violin, I could have been in the orchestra."
