In this unit, it focused on course books and lesson materials. This unit explored the differences between authentic materials, created materials, and typical textbooks and workbooks. It looked at the advantages and disadvantages of each one and determined when one would be more effective. From my education, I usually tended to like materials and learn more from created materials than that of authentic materials and textbooks. I think this unit gave me a new perspective and appreciation for textbooks. I always found textbooks too expensive, dull, and lacking in that it never helped me learn what I needed to know since topics covered would be so broad. However, this unit taught me the importance and how helpful they are in learning English versus other subjects and that some students learn better by textbooks.
