This unit started off by briefly covered learning theories, such as the CLL, PPP etc. Next, the building blocks of lessons, the ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) was explained along with a few major lesson structures, such as the straight arrow and boomerang. Then, specific techniques for each stage of the lesson were outlined, such as role-playing, hangman, and group discussions, and finally there was some advice on how to give feedback and correct learners. Although this unit was very content-heavy, it was an especially useful, as I had always struggled with structuring classes because I did not know about ESA, nor did I have a wide repertoire on how to elicit responses from learners and engage them. This will definitely help me to plan and execute lessons that will be of more use to my students.
