Unit 4 covered four different types of present tense; present simple, present continuous, present perfect and present perfect continuous. Present simple is used when mentioning routines, facts, commentaries, directions, instructions, newspaper headlines, present stories and historical sequences. Present continuous is used when discussing actions in progress, temporary actions, frequent actions, events in a story, developing situations, and regular actions. Present perfect is used when talking about finished activities, past activities with out a finished time, something that began in the past and is still happening, and when talking about past activities with present repercussions. Present perfect continuous only has two usages to communicate unfinished activities with a time stamp, and to explain a completed activity with a present result.
