Learning how teaching productive skills is seen by a new learner is like teaching a baby to start communicating. The way children learn is by play. Adults can also use games to encourage speaking and writing in English. Per the unit writing is the most neglected skill in teaching English as a second language. From my understanding of this unit there are not too many teachers who take the time to focus on the writing itself. I know it is important because not only is the language different when spoken then in writing but also there are different types of writing. Once in the business world I learned to write formal emails however before that when earning my higher level education none of my english teachers ever took the opportunity to show the different types of writing. I took different art classes and that is where I learned of poetry and philosophy writers. I learned on my own what this unit is telling teachers of tefl to do. I will take the opportunity to show my students the different types of writing and introduce what is out in the world of english written language.
