This unit taught me about the pros and cons of using course books (or textbooks as I call them). In my job, I know I will be forced to use a specific text book in class, and so this unit was helpful in suggesting ways that I could still use the textbook, but also expand on or adapt the textbook to suit my students' needs. The unit also highlighted differences between authentic and created materials, and gave suggestions as to how they could be used in class and for what purposes. Lastly, the last task gave me an opportunity to apply the knowledge I gained from this unit to create my own lesson plan, which was good practice.
