In this unit, I learnt about coursebooks and teaching materials. It was especially helpful to know some of the advantages and disadvantages of choosing authentic materials and created materials for lessons. Authentic materials can generate interests in students because they are up-to-date topics and useful real life subjects where as created materials can be customised to the learning level of students. It was also useful to know what to consider when selecting a coursebook for a class. coursebooks are not to be used for the whole lesson because they do not cater to a specific need and cover broad range of topics.
