This unit contrasts two classes in which the teacher demonstrates the right and wrong
way to motivate students to participate fully in the classroom. In the first video, Simon
says hello and then jumps right into the study phase. His attempt at explaining the goals
of the lesson is unclear and confusing. The pupils are unsure what he is talking about.
The instructor often seem impatient and frustrated. He sometimes talks too fast and
does not connect with the students. As a result, they are confused and nervous. In the
second class, Simon introduces himself and asks the students to tell him their names.
His positive and friendly attitude helps break the ice and causes the pupils to relax and
concentrate more effectively. This provides an optimal learning environment to master
the knowledge and skills that are being taught. The teacher uses great elicitation
techniques that increase the students talk time. For all the reasons mentioned and more,
the second classes was superior in every way to the first one.
