This unit focused on modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. Modal auxiliary verbs are used before other verbs to add meaning to the main verb. Passive voice changes the sentence so that the object of an active verb becomes the subject of the passive verb. Transative verbs are to show something is not important or known and the form is aux. verb "be" + past participle. There are three types of relative classes, independent clause relative clause and dependent clause. Independent clauses are a complete sentence with a subject and a verb whereas a dependent clause needs to be connected to an independent cause. A relative clause is a dependent clause that modifies the noun and identifies or gives further information about that noun. Defining relative clauses are essential to the meaning of the sentence while non defining are not essential and the information could be removed and the sentence meaning isn't altered. There are three types of phrasal verbs: intransitive, transitive separable and transitive inseparable.
