The eighth unit focuses on the form and usages of seven future tenses. Future simple (form: sub. + will + verb, example: I will sleep) is used for future predictions with no evidence, spontaneous decisions, assumptions, and future facts. Future continuous (from: sub + will be + verb + ing, ex I'll be driving the red car) is used to say something is in progress at a specific moment in the future, polite inquiries or to refer to fixed future moments. Future perfect (form: will have + past participle, example "I will have walked for 3 hours") is used to show something is completed by a certain time in the future. Future perfect continuous (form: will have been + verb + ing, example I will have been eating for two hours) is used to show how long something will have been continued by a certain time. Be going (present) or going to (future) + infinitive (form: to be (present) or going to (future) + base form of verb, example He is going to play chess tomorrow) is used for plans or intentions. Present simple and present continuous from unit 6 were elaborated on again. The tense forms (present, past, future) are easier to learn once a pattern is established and you see the same words (e.g. "simple", "continuous", "perfect continuous").
