This unit discusses conditionals and reported speech. Conditional are clauses that contain if or when. There are 5 types : zero (if + present tense, present tense), first conditional ( if + present simple, will), second conditional (past simple+ would+ base verb) , third conditional( if + past perfect would, have + past participle , and mixed ( if + past perfect, would + base verb form. Reported speech is the way we transform the information what someone has told us. Mary said, "I am feeling sick." I would tell Tom. " Mary told me that she was feeling sick." A general rule is to change direct speech to reported speech one must change the present into the past form of whatever tense was used by the original speaker.
