There are seven tenses in English to indicate the future:
1) The future simple
Form:
Affirmative: Subject + will/shall + verb in base form
Negative: Subject + will/shall + not + verb in base form
Question: Will/shall + subject + verb in base form
Usages:
a) Promises
b) Threats
c) Predictions that are not based on an evidence
d) Speculations and assumptions
e) Future facts
f) Spontaneous decisions
Shall is used to make suggestions and invitations. It is also used in formal situations.
2)The future continuous
Form:
Affirmative: Subject + will + be + verb + ing
Negative: Subject + will + not + be + verb + ing
Question: Will + subject + be + verb + ing
Usages:
a) To ask someone about their future plans without influencing their intention
b) To talk about an action in progress at some time in the future
c) To predict something that may be happening now
d) Future events which are already planned or scheduled
3) The future perfect
Form:
Affirmative: Subject + will + have + past participle
Negative: Subject + will + not + have + past participle
Question: Will + subject + have + past participle
Usage:
To say that something will have been achieved by a certain time in the future
4) The future perfect continuous
Form:
Affirmative: Subject + will + have + been + verb + ing
Negative: Subject + will + not + have + been + verb + ing
Question: Will + subject + have + been + verb + ing
Usage:
To say how long something will have continued by a certain time
5) be + going + infinitive
Usages:
a) Intentions
b) Predictions based on evidence
c) Plans
6) Present simple
Usages:
a) Timetables and schedules
b) Formal situations
c) To suggest an impersonal tone
7) Present continuous
Usages:
a) Definite arrangements
b) Decisions and plans without a time frame
