The fifteenth unit elaborated on evaluating students and the different types of testing. The placement test, usually multiple choice questions or fill in the blank in addition to an in person interview, gives the teacher an idea of what English level the student is so they can correctly place them in an appropriate class or group. The progress tests are used periodically to see what the students have retained and what the teacher needs to briefly reteach. Progress tests are less formal than placement tests because they are determining current content retention. Diagnostic tests are similar to placement tests but more thorough. The unit talked about the different type of external exams (TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC) and what type of student is taking them.
