Unit 9 explains why and how to make a lesson plan. I think an unexperienced teacher should have a lesson plan in order to maintain the class well and learn about pros and cons of his teaching and how he can improve. For myself, I would rather write a well-structured lesson plan but be able to make some changes and be flexible. Also, I think a teacher should always have a backup plan if there is time left before the class ends. checking all the lesson materials before the lesson starts is a good habit because then there will be no waste of class time.
