In unit 7 teaching a new language I learned teaching vocabulary, grammar and its function to students using the various techniques. Selecting vocabulary is based upon appropriacy to the student and to the task at hand, the frequency and coverage, and its teachability. For the grammatical structures it is important for students need to know what the language means, how it is used, what the grammatical for is and how it is said and written. The teaching of language functions include areas such as inviting, refusing, agreeing, disagreeing and suggesting. Also the appropriacy of the form of language they use such as formal, imformal, tentative, and technical.
