This unit provides me with very clear and detailed explanation of the modal verbs, phrasal verbs and passive voice. Indeed, all three of them are extremely difficult to teach. Teaching these three grammars are more difficult than teaching the present, past, and future tenses. Non-English speakers will need a great amount of time to fully understand the differences between various modal auxiliary verbs, and when exactly should they apply them. When I was a secondary school student, I myself spent so much time on working on the modal auxiliary verbs before successfully mastered them. The table on Page 3 is very useful. However, it would be more helpful if the degree of politeness of different modal verbs is mentioned as well. On the other hand, I have also learnt a lot from the sections on the passive voice and the phrasal verbs. With the materials from this unit, I can confidently explain the grammatical rules to my students.
