Before I read this unit, I was not aware that the style of seating arrangements (in rows, in a circle or horseshoe, in grouped tables, etc.) affected the teacher's position and that that was something that needed to be considered. I thought it was entirely dependent on what kind of activity is being attempted by the students. I will keep this in mind in my own lessons. Although, I actually struggle to arrange most classes into anything other than rows due to the size of the class (40 students are hard to move around in a room... there's usually not even room to walk up and down the rows monitoring students as they work!) and the fact that rows are simply "the way things are done" in this country in particular. Even getting them to move their desks to face their partner is sometimes difficult. I will just have to keep trying to do what I can, with this unit's teachings in mind.
