The main focus in this unit was the importance of productive skills and how to best employ them in the English-learning classroom. This unit also emphasized the differences between accuracy and fluency, and when each skill ought to be paid more attention to. As a future teacher, an understanding of the importance of both fluency and accuracy attainment is critical, but it is also very important to understand when each skill ought to be stressed and when it is alright to let students struggle with one or the other. I found that this unit addressed the teacher's need to facilitate the achievement of these skills very well through explicitly stating when to emphasize the importance of each skill and when to stand back and allow the students to experiment and feel things out for themselves.
