Unit 1 is about teachers and learners, I have learnt that taking up a role as an English teacher is very important to both young and adult learners. While there are many differences between the young and adult learners I have found that there is common ground between both types of learners and that is that both are trying to learn English as a second language which is an incredibly exciting and rewarding task as the English language is a commonly spoken language across the world. By learning English, students may be able to travel as tourists to different countries and also live in those English speaking countries. Learners are very motivated especially when they are trying to pursue their studies in industries such as science, tourism, aviation, computers and media as these industries are predominantly spoken in the English language.
An English teacher is very important as they become the models for the students to learn from them the English grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary and in this way it is the responsibility of the teacher to build the confidence of the learner by showing that it is indeed possible to learn English within 1 year as this will motivate the learner.
I have learnt that the role of an English teacher is very important as I take the responsibility of each and every learners goal to learn the English language and it is my responsibility to treat all learners fairly, build rapport and to make sure that special care and attention is given to the learners as well as equal evaluation of their different levels in the language and the plans to take to keep progressing until all the students are comfortable and have reached the goals they have set to learn English.
