Understanding the benefits and uses of different types of visual aids is critical to a teacher being able to meet student needs. Furthermore, using a variety of visual aids will ultimately generate better student participation and may hold their attention longer. Although most classrooms designed for English language learning simply have a whiteboard, I found that videos and audio playback aided greatly in the acquisition of a new language and believe that all teachers should become familiar with utilizing them. The next most important tool I have used would be the OHP. It allows a clearer form of communication with students, especially during the study phase of a lesson.
