This unit discusses reading and listening as receptive skills, that the teacher has to teach his/her students. There are two aims for reading and listening, for a purpose and for entertainment. There are different ways of working with text or speech, for example, a person does scanning for specific information or skimming for a general understanding of the content. Everything depends on the specific situation or exercise. Authors explain the ways of choosing, selecting printed or audio texts for the lesson, so as the concrete example of a receptive skills lesson. For me all the explanations were interesting and helpful, because I have never looked at the problem of teaching listening and reading skills so much detailed.
