Being a good teacher or student is about expressing the qualities that are good for that role. Being a good teacher involves qualities such as unselfishness, where the teacher puts the student's needs in front of their own. This means that the teacher is not just teaching to be a good teacher, but being aware of the needs of the class and of each individual student. A good teacher believes in the abilities of their students. A teacher can see the strengths and weaknesses of their students, but they believe that the students are good and will be grateful for the steps a teacher takes to help them improve their weaknesses.
There are many qualities of a good student. The ones that I see are important include respect for the teacher and their fellow classmates, willingness to learn, curiosity and a willingness to ask questions, as well as creativity to make the language their own and create their own unique ways of studying that are right for them.
There are many roles of a teacher. Some may say that there are many hats that a teacher must wear. I am looking forwards to wearing the hats of a manager who gives lessons to classroom, a model of what a Southern American looks and sounds like, as well as a facilitator who gives the reigns to the students to learn with their fellow classmates.
There are several levels of learning including a beginner, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper-intermediate and advanced.
There are many reasons that students might be motivated to study English. Some of these reasons include the satisfaction of learning a language and perfecting a skill, or to boast a resume for future job opportunities. English is a very special language that is a useful one to learn because it allows you to communicate with more people if you travel. Learning English also allows you to listen to music, tv and movies with a greater understanding (and without subtitles).
