Lesson 4 focused on the present tense. There are four different aspects of the present tense which are the present simple, present continuous (progressive), present perfect and present perfect continuous. This lesson provided examples of the affirmative, negative and question forms for each tense. The rules for using each form in all 4 tenses were presented like equations and I found that extremely helpful. For example to form a question in the present simple tense you start with the auxiliary verb 'to do' plus the subject and the base form of the verb and you have a proper present simple question sentence. I also think these short formulas will benefit students because they are clear rules to follow and students can practice making sentences with them. This lesson also stated the usages of each tense and provided helpful examples. I think this will be very useful when I'm teaching because I will be able to explain to students exactly when and why they should use each tense. This chapter showed some common errors that students, which allowed me to practice some correcting strategies but I think I could use a little more practice with that. One of my favorite things so far about the TEFL is all of the activity suggestions for each lesson and what part of the lesson these games should be played and how they will help students learn. I am taking note of all of these and am learning so much!
