In Unit 8, I learned about the different future tenses and their structures.
The Future Simple Tense is used for spontaneous decisions, predictions, future facts, promises, assumptions, and threats. For example: It'll rain before the evening.
The Future Continuous Tense is used when something will be in progress at a future time, to predict the present, for polite inquiries about another person's plans, and planned events taking place in the future. For example: Chef Joe will be cooking the same meal next Tuesday. An idea for teaching this tense, might include arranging diaries/dates.
The Future Perfect Tense is used for actions that will be completed before some other point in the future. It simply, the 'past in the future.'
For example: The football game will have ended by the time Bobby gets there. A teaching idea is to have the students discuss what they've accomplished by certain ages, years.
The Future Perfect Continuous Tense describes actions that will have begun sometime in the past, present, or in the future, and is expected to continue in the future. For example: In November, I will have been working at my company for three years. A teaching idea is to have the students questions as to how long they will have been learning English by next summer/going to school/living at their current house, etc..
The 'going to' future tense is used for intentions, predictions based on present evidence, and plans that have been decided on before speaking. For example: I think it's going to snow later. A teaching idea is to have the students plan their holiday and birthday.
