This Unit builds on what we learned in Unit 3, specifically the ESA structures. Grammar and vocabulary lesson are more commonly taught with the Straight Arrow, Engage, Study and Activate approach, while the Boomerang and Patchwork structures are more common to teaching function based lessons, such as games, discussions and role playing. I learned that during the Engage stage the main point is not to try and teach but to simply get your students involved in the use of the language. The purpose here is to get them warmed up and ready for their lessons. The teaching is reserved for the Study and Activate periods.
