This unit focused on the four present tenses and their uses. The present simple tense is most noticeably used when telling routine/habits, directions, and present stories among a few other cases. It can be spotted though it's subject +v [+s/es] form such as I teach or She teaches. The present progressive tense has many uses including emphasizing frequent actions, describing developing situations, and to talk about temporary actions.An important fact to note about this tense is that there are verbs, non-action verbs, which are non-progressive. Present perfect connects the past and present. Its usages include describing past actions with present consequences, past actions that have an indefinite time line as well as general experiences without detail. Lastly, there is the present perfect progressive. This tense relates past activities rather than actions to the present and suggests that the activity is likely to continue or was uninterrupted and recently continued. This unit taught me how to relate these tenses to my students as well as what typical errors to look out for so I can have an idea of how to explain and correct those mistakes.
