This unit explains some of the problems that the teacher is likely to face during his first lesson.The teacher will meet new groups made up of students who do not know each other and a rapport must be established with them to help in the learning process.The teacher will also meet existing group who knows each other and are also familiar with EFL training.In both situations,it is important for the teacher to find out the English level of the students,their aspirations and help them.It is also important to note when dealing with “warmers”,try not to start the lesson immediately but use short,fun,communicative activities like Hangman,Pictionary,Tongue Twitters, and Memory games designed to get students motivated before starting the actual lesson.The teacher will also encounter students who are in different levels of understanding and must at times,pair the strong students with the weak students in the learning process.The teacher will meet large classes,students who like to use their native language instead of English,students who are reluctant to study the language and students who have difficulty with listening.In all cases,the teacher must use his knowledge to help the students.
