This unit went over the basics on materials and textbooks. I think there is also another part of choosing materials that is important, which is what the school or company wants. At the centre I worked for in Vietnam, their course levels were named after the coursebook that went with it, to better grade the students English level. I think it is always a good idea to supplement textbooks with extra activities or created material as it does add more interest in the students and lessens the predictability.
